Amidst these challenging times, a group of women from the Bangladeshi community have come
together to support and help each other through online arts and crafts sessions.
Working with Padma Rao, a visual artist from Sunderland and an Islamic artist Roohia Syed-Ahmed
the women have explored the notion of culture, cultural entitlement and identity through the art of
Arabic Calligraphy, contemporary drawing and text.
This exhibition at Arts Centre Washington is the culmination of the project, featuring work produced
during the workshops alongside the work of three professional artists.
